Well, darn...

I got the email this morning:
"Thank you for applying for the
ING New York City Marathon 2007.
Unfortunately, you were not selected in
the random international lottery drawing."

So I'll be doing my alternate self-inflicted birthday present, Middle Beach.

It's a bit of a downer, but also a little bit of a relief, since what Middle Beach will cost in total, might just cover one night at a New York hotel.

Today's run was fun and fast. Just to 14th Street, but it's such a beautiful day, and so many people are out.

Distance: 6.90 km. Time: 37:26 Average speed: 11.1kph.

Shoes: Saucony Grid Phoenix (Yellow) A.

Weather: Sunny and 19C.

The Calgary Marathon is in 52 days.

That's a big shame about not getting into NYC. Well, at least they told you earlier than you'd expected. Look out for a sliver lining on this one, because you have plenty of time to train for something before November, better and cheaper at that.
I've run NYC seven times, and it's certainly worth doing, but there are plenty of fine races that can be just as or even more enjoyable than NYC's in November.

Keep training, and keep having fun...

Well, you know I am jealous already... Tofino being one of my favourite places to be. Looks wonderful!
